The Cost of Hiring a Investigator

Some time in you’re life, situations come that you are thinking of hiring a private investigator .

Some time in you’re life, situations come that you are thinking of hiring a private investigator . If your financial condition is not good, then the first question that will come in your mind is “what is the cost of hiring an investigator?” Fees depend on the location and the type of services. If investigators are professional with experience and training, they will have higher fees.
Before you hire an investigator, find out all fees for the services you require. Most professional’s agency offers a free initial consultation. There are two types of fees some people are charged. There are fees on services or fees per hour.
Here are some services a private investigator can give you:
  • identifying a cell phone number (approximately $80 to $90)
  • vehicle registration search (approximately $15 to $20)
  • criminal record search (approximately $30 to $45)
  • GPS monitoring (approximately $200 to $300 per week)
Hourly Fees
Hourly rates depend on where the investigator is located, the difficulty of the investigation , and whether the private investigator will need the assistance of some other private investigators .
In the USA, fees range from $50 to100 per hour. But keep in mind that there may be additional fees attached to the hourly rate. A common addition is mileage expenses, usually around $0.50 per mile.
That hourly rate may increase if another private investigator 's services are needed in order to complete your case. For example, if your PI needs the assistance of an associate overseas, the hourly rate may be high. In some parts of the world, investigators can charge as much as $300 per hour.
Once you hire a private investigator 's, make sure that the investigator keeps a record of his/her activities and ask for itemized lists of the work that has been completed. Don't forget to sign a contract with the investigator in detailed writing the services to be performed.
